This A2E duo, the second in the EOS line, is a technological and engineering trailblazer. Lift the EOS A2E's viewfinder to your eye and the portion of the image you're looking at pops into focus. Called Eye-Start, this feature tracks your eye movements and automatically set focus on one of five autofocus points. This ties in handily with the wide-zone autofocusing system that is common to both the A2 and A2E (the A2 comes sans Eye-Start, but everything else is the same).
Other A2/A2E features include 16-zone metering that is linked to the five focus points, spot, center weighted and average metering, shutter and aperture priority AE, shiftable program AE, a powerful (ISO 100 GN 43-56 ft.) built-in TTL flash, second-curtain sync and flash exposure compensation.
The EOS A2 and A2E offer Whisper Drive, which offers near-silent movement of film at a fast 5 fps rate. Its 16 custom functions include mirror pre-lock, film rewind with leader out, manual film speed setting. Full lines of interchangeable focusing screens and lenses are available.
