When photo opportunities arise, give them your best shot with the ZX-30 from Pentax. It lets you shoot at the spur of the moment with automatic ease, or express yourself creatively through manual control - whichever style matches your mood. Best of all, precision Pentax technology ensures rewarding results every time. Set your sights on the new ZX-30. It makes SLR photography as simple or sophisticated as you want it to be.
Features- Like all other ZX series models, the ZX-30 is one of the most compact and lightweight 35mm autofocus SLR cameras available on the market today (only 12.7 ounces).
- Thanks to the acclaimed SAFOX VI phase-matching autofocus system, the ZX-30 assures high precision, high speed autofocus operation - even under low light conditions. The predictive autofocus function automatically activates when the camera detects the subject's motion and predicts the subject's position at the moment of shutter release for pinpoint focusing.
- The ZX-30's six-selectable Picture Modes simplify complicated exposure control in many different situations. Mode selection is simple and direct; all the photographer needs to do is turn the model dial on the camera's left side to one of the exposure programs (Standard Program, Portrait Program, Landscape Program, Close-Up Program, Action Program, and Night Scene Program).
- The ZX-30 offers two conventional auto-exposure modes (Aperture-Priority AE and Shutter-Priority AE) as well as Metered Manual mode and Bulb mode for greater freedom of visual expression.
- The ZX-30's six-segment multi-pattern metering system assures optimum results, even in difficult, high-contrast lighting situations such as side-lighting and backlit situations.
- Covering up to a wide 28mm angle of view, the built-in auto flash automatically pops up and discharges when the camera detects low-light and/or backlight situations. Thanks to the advanced TTL flash control system, complicated flash techniques such as daylight sync, slow-shutter sync and bulb sync are made simple and effortless - even when used in combination with a dedicated flash unit.
- The red-eye reduction function* effectively reduces the red spots which can appear in the subject's eyes when using the flash. The flash unit also makes a brief discharge in the dark to assist the camera's AF system. * This function does not eliminate "red eyes" in all instances.
- The ZX-30 allows the user to confirm its operational status in two easy ways: the large LCD panel on top of the camera displays vital information using large icons and numbers; while the viewfinder LCD display offers a full range of information, including the selected picture program and an exposure compensation factor.
- Exposure Compensation lets you quickly and easily shift exposure across a range of +/-3, in ½ EV increments, to create the desired visual effect. A bar-graph indicator in the viewfinder indicates the compensation value.
- By pressing the Memory Lock button, you can store the present exposure value in memory for 20 seconds and recompose the image without changing the value.
- Multiple Exposure allows interesting effects such as multiple appearances of the same subject on a single frame.
- Set your own pace with three drive modes, including single-frame advance, consecutive-frame advance at 2 frames per second, and a self-timer with a 12-second delay.
- The ZX-30 is compatible with most existing PENTAX 35mm system accessories, including the AF500FTZ and AF330FTZ dedicated flash units.
- The ZX-30 Date allows the user to record data onto photographs for easy reference of captured images. The user can select one of five data recording modes (day-month-year, month-day-year, year-month-day, day-and-time and blank) with easy pushbutton operation.
