Photographs taken with the new Contax Tvs III display the incomparable optical quality photographers have come to expect from Contax and Carl Zeiss T* optics.

Designed exclusively for the new Tvs III, the Carl Zeiss T* 30-60mm power zoom lens provides the ultimate in high resolution, color saturation and contrast. This advanced, extremely precise lens is comprised of 6 elements in 5 groups with a high-speed shutter that remains virtually round at every f-stop. Additionally, the Vario Sonnar 30-60mm lens utilizes the legendary Carl Zeiss T* coating which virtually eliminates lens flare.

The Tvs III incorporates sophisticated automatic features with manual override capabilities which give the photographer the versatility of a Single Lens Reflex type camera in a very small portable package. Available exposure modes are Program AE and Aperture Priority AE plus exposure compensation for added creative control. The Tvs III utilizes a highly accurate passive auto focus system for sharp, crystal clear images. Manual focus and Spot AF are standard.

Features

Viewfinder The large, bright viewfinder on the Tvs III give you information on shutter speed, distance to subject, exposure compensation and flash status.
Flash Choose from auto flash, fill-in flash, red-eye reduction flash, and flash off. The Tvs III is the first compact Contax camera to incorporate a zoom flash. The flash zooms to cover the entire range of 30-60mm.
Taking Lens The Tvs III contains an incredibly sharp Carl Zeiss T* 30-60mm f3.7-6.7 lens. The lens is all glass and consists of 6 elements in 5 groups.
Digital Aperture Control A state-of-the-art Aperture Control system lets you quickly and easily set the following apertures: f3.7, f5.6, f8, f11, f16.
Motorized Lens Protection System The Motorized Lens Protection System (MLPS) automatically lowers and closes when the power switch is activated. When closed, the Tvs III easily fits into a pocket or purse.
Standard Data Back The data back is now standard and is built into the camera. The large LCD provides important information in a bright, sharp and easy to read format. You can confirm the frame number, battery status, flash mode, exposure compensation, date mode, self timer and distance to subject when in manual focus.
Data Back Selection Buttons You may set the month/day/year, day/month/year, year/month/day, date and time, or the imprint can be turned off.
Flash Mode Button Choose from automatic flash, automatic flash with red-eye reduction, flash off, fill-in flash, or night portrait with red-eye reduction.
Self Timer Button The self timer may be set at either a 2 second or 10 second delay.
Built-in DiopterThe adjustable diopter covers the range of -3.5 to +2.
Power Switch/Focus Dial Turning the camera to the "On" position quickly lowers the Motorized Lens Protection System (MLPS) and readies the camera to shoot. The dial also allows you to set the focus manually from 0.51m to infinity.

Digital Aperture Display A state-of-the-art Aperture Control system lets you quickly and easily set the following apertures with digital precision: f3.7, f5.6, f8, f11, f16.
Exposure Compensation Dial The dial lets you easily set the compensation in the range of +/-2 EV, in either 1/3 or 1/2 (via the custom function mode) stop increments.
Sapphire Shutter Release Because multi-crystal sapphire is supremely scratch resistant and perpetually maintains its fine sheen, it has been chosen as the material for the shutter release button on the Contax TvsII. This material provides a touch of elegance and makes a subtle statement about the quality of all the materials used in the manufacture of the camera.
Motorized Zoom Control The Tvs III has incorporates 2 buttons which quickly let you zoom from 30 wide angle to 60mm telephoto.
Automatic Focus Lock Button The camera is normally set to Automatic Focus. By pressing the Lock Button and turning the dial, you can thean easily set focus manually. Focus can be set from 0.51m to infinity.
