The Ricoh RDC-4200 digital camera is a 1.3 million pixel charge-coupled device with both zoom and macro facilities.
Described as being "ideal for first-time users," the RDC-4200 captures high-resolution images at 1280 x 960 (SXGA) and accepts 4MB, 8MB and 16MB SmartMedia cards. It has a 3x optical and 2x digital zoom (up to 6x zoom in VGA mode), enabling users to take extreme close-ups. It also works in macro mode, allowing pictures to be taken of objects just three inches away.
Other features of the RDC-4200 include a time lapse function that lets photographers record events over time, such as a flower blooming or the sun rising. The camera is fully automatic with manual overrides, including auto-focus, automatic white balance and flash settings that reduce color shifts under certain conditions.
The RDC-4200 comes with PhotoStudio 2.0 image editing software, which enables the user to create photo collages and other special effects, and PhotoBase, for organizing and tracking the images.
